Horsethief Lake Trail

Horsethief Lake Trail is located 2 miles west of Mount Rushmore on Highway 244. The trail goes about 3/4 around Horsethief Lake then hits the campground. At the campground is a sign advising any further travel is for those using the campground only. At the time we took the walk, there were very little people there so we hiked around the lake, taking the road back to the car. The trail is very pretty and I recommend taking the short hike to the bridge and then turning around and taking the same trail back.

This is a great place to get out and stretch and views from the lake are just beautiful.
