Summer and Winter Challenge for Custer State Park

Custer State Park every year has a winter and summer challenge where you hike 5 to 6 hikes. In the winter you have to take selfies at each station, and in the summer you have to trace the medallions at each station. The hikes are anywhere from 1 mile to 4 miles. Once you complete all the challenges you take your selfie pictures or the copies of your medallions to the Custer State Park Visitor’s Center to win a prize. Each year it has been a different pin. This is a fun way to explore the park, get some exercise, and in the winter have most of the park to yourself.

For the winter challenges you just need a camera. For the summer challenges you need paper and a pencil to copy the medallions. Before you begin go to the Custer Park Visitor’s Center to pick up the challenge and talk to the rangers about any concerns or advice you may need before you begin.
