Silver City
Silver City was established in 1876 by the Gorman brothers who came to the Black Hills looking for precious metals, and ended up with two mines in the area. By 1878, Silver City grew to over 300 residents trying to seek their fortunes in silver and gold. Eventually other businesses developed in the area including a hotel, railroad, sawmill, post office, school, church and general store. Today the town is more of a recreational community, with a few of the older buildings remaining.
