Piedmont Trailhead
The Piedmont Trailhead starts in the town of Piedmont off Main Street and Elk Mountain Road. The little road to the parking lot was a little rough, but doable. After that, I would not recommend driving your vehicle any further unless you are in an ATV. We were not sure where the start of the trail was so we took what looked like a trail across the road. We followed several different trails and ended up a lot higher than our destination and the Piedmont overlook. Most of the trails seemed to be deer or animal trails, so on the way down we opted to take the road. Either way it is hard to get lost, but you can easily overshoot your destination like we did following the trails. The overlook of Piedmont was nice.
