Pactola Lake Campground

Pactola Lake is the largest and deepest reservoir in the Black Hills National Forest with 14 miles of shoreline. There is a beautiful 88 unit campground near the lake. Close by is a marina, camp store, beach where you can swim, picnic area, 2 boat launches, and some hiking trails. This is a beautiful campground and area that fills up fast in the summertime. Compared to some of the other campgrounds we stay in this tends to be a little bit more rowdy and loud with a lot of the boaters coming in at night and more people at the campground staying up late.

Pactola Lake Campground is located 15 miles west of Rapid City off Highway 385. It is north of the town of Hill City and south of the town of Deadwood.

Beautiful spots by the lake.

Our spot - just gorgeous.

Went down to the lake to go fishing a couple of times. Nice short stroll from our campsite.

Caught 2 of these fishing. - Found out not a good thing - they are invasive in the lake.

Beautiful calm night to fish and relax.

Nice view for cooking.

Time to relax by the fire.

Three different areas to camp.

Nice big spots.

Staying in spot 39 - one of my favorites.

Tent section.

They have a marina and a store for some snacks.

Another nice place to fish off the Osprey Trail near other campsites.

Look at that view.
