Old Baldy Trail
The Old Baldy Trail is a loop trail that is 5.7 miles in length with a 0.8 mile spur trail that will lead you to the summit for a total trip of around 8 miles. The trail is moderate and only has an elevation change of 300 feet. This trail is especially pretty to do in the fall.
To get to Old Baldy Trail from Spearfish go south on Tinton Rd for 13 miles to the trailhead. If coming from Spearfish Canyon turn onto Roughlock Falls Road then go north on Tinton Rd to the trailhead.
Beginning of the trail - very inviting.
Choose which way you want to go. We went to the right.
Interesting. I call this wood on a pole.
So much yellow.
Lots of damage from storms/tornados???
Something lurking in the trees.
Bridge pretty much not needed.
A missing lake.
Spur trail to take to get to the top of Old Baldy.
View from the top - gorgeous.
I made it. Rare photo op for me.
Perfect place for a lunch. We were all alone up there.
Same hike we did long time ago with the kids. They were exhausted by the end.
Nice and easy trail but long.
This is a mining claim along the trail.
So much destruction.
I love finding things like this along a trail. This was an active nest.
Lots of shade in the summer.
Almost to the end of the trail.
You follow a farm on the way back. Was getting support and stares from the local cows.
