Oahe Mission School And Chapel
In 1874 Reverend Thomas L Riggs and his wife established the school to serve the Sioux Indians in South Dakota. The school was rebuilt in 1877 to a larger building, and also became a place to worship. The school then had to be moved to its current location after the flooding of the Oahe Dam. The school is now located 4 miles north of Pierre on Highway 1804. There is also a visitor’s center next door.
