Little Spearfish Loop
The Little Spearfish Loop is a nice trail off of Roughlock Falls Rd. The trailhead starts right next to the Rod and Gun Campground. It's about 6 miles long with about 1000 ft. of total ascent. We rode this trail in the fall when the colors were changing and it was quite nice.
Spearfish Canyon Rd.
If you want a nice ride and just want to enjoy the scenery that Spearfish Canyon has to offer, this is a great ride for you. There are a number of starting points at the beginning of the road near Spearfish. From there you follow the road on a slight incline until you reach Savoy. This portion of the road has wide enough shoulders so you don't feel in danger by the passing traffic. It is not recommended that you ride past Savoy because there are no shoulders on the road from that point on. Once you reach Savoy, you can stop at the Latchstring in or the Spearfish Canyon Resort for a beverage before you make the easy downhill glide back to your starting point.
Roughlock Falls Road
Roughlock Falls is a gorgeous dirt road that goes to Roughlock Falls. When the kids were little we would take them on this road in the fall and let them ride their bikes. We started at Tinton Road and biked the road down to Savoy. The road is about 6 miles long and inclines down the whole way. It is an easy road for all ages - (You just have to watch for traffic especially around Roughlock Falls). My husband or I would then follow in the truck and pick them up at the end. You can combine this with riding Spearfish Canyon Road all the way downhill to the entrance to make it even more fun.
