Mount Rushmore
Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into a mountain in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Completed in 1941 under the direction of Gutzon Borglum, it's roughly 60-ft.-high. It depicts U.S. presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. The monument is just west of Keystone, South Dakota off of Highway 244. There is a parking fee when visiting the monument.
On Highway 244 just west of Mount Rushmore is the profile of George Washington you can see from the road.

On site there is also the Lincoln Borglum Museum - The museum houses over 5,200 square feet of interactive exhibits which inform you of the history and development of the sculpture. There are also two 125-seat theaters where the 18 minute film “The Shrine,” gives you an introduction to the memorial. This is a "must see" for your visit to the monument.
