Beginning of the trail in the summer.

Mount Roosevelt Trail

Mount Roosevelt Trail is a short trail that leads to a monument that was built in dedication to Theodore Roosevelt.  Once in the monument you can see great views of the Black Hills and Bear Butte. To reach the trail take Highway 85  north for 1.5 miles out of Deadwood and turn onto Forest Service Road 133 and drive for about 2 miles. There is a bathroom and a picnic area on site.  This hike is especially pretty in the fall.

Same entrance in the fall.

Nice picnic area.

Bathroom on site which is nice.

Interesting information.

Path divides and does a loop. We always to to the left.

Trail is not too bad, but does go up for a bit.

The views are amazing.

In the tower - look at those views.

Great shot of Bear Butte in Sturgis.

The stairs - pretty tight and steep.

Views outside the tower’s windows.

Hiking back down the other side of the loop.
