Meeker Ranch in Custer
Meeker Ranch was constructed in the 1880’s and is near Custer off of Highway 16A. It is located in a green valley surrounded by pine trees and rocks. It was acquired by the Forest Service in 2004, who later teamed up with the Black Hills Historic Preservation and Trust to protect Meeker Ranch and other historic structures in the Black Hills. The site consists of a house, a barn, a cabin, outhouses, and other buildings. You have access to the buildings which is pretty cool, and it is easy to get to. It is about 1.5 miles to the ranch and back hiking. There is some parking on site, and the road there is not bad depending on weather conditions. This was a really neat place to explore and take pictures.
You park near this gate and walk about 3/4 quarters of a mile to the Meeker Ranch on the road.
First building you come to - small cabin and outhouse.
These notices are on all the buildings.
