Lakota Lake

Lakota Lake is a small lake located southeast of Keystone SD, on US Highway 16A/Iron Mountain Road. It is closer to the entrance of Custer State Park than Keystone. The lake has a picnic area and a small river that flows into and from the lake. It is usually passed by for the more popular and larger lakes making it more serene and less busy. This is a favorite among fisherman, and there is a small trail around part of the lake. On the backside of the lake, there is a pocketful of small waterfalls depending on the season.

There is now a day fee to use this lake which you are expected to pay right at the beginning of the road leading into the area.

Behind Lakota Lake. Pretty little waterfalls.

Need to pay near this sign at the beginning of the road going in.

Behind the lake can be pretty cool depending on the season and rain levels.
