Homestake Railroad Grade Trail

The Homestake Railroad Grade Trail is a 5.7 mile out and back trail which goes between the towns of Lead and Deadwood, South Dakota. The trail is pretty easy and I highly recommend parking at the Lead dog park and walking east towards Deadwood for a mostly downhill walk. When we did it, we had 2 cars which made for a perfect, easy, and relaxing hike. When we were done we got our car, and then went to Deadwood for lunch. We did this hike in September and it was gorgeous and we saw very few people.

Followed the fence line for more photos of the mine.

Turn up here to follow the trail.

Found this pretty painted rock on the sign - left it for the next person.
