Grizzly Creek Trailhead

Grizzly Creek Trailhead is off Iron Mountain Road and at the end of the Grizzly Bear Campground. There really wasn’t anywhere for us to park so we parked on Iron Mountain Road off the road by the creek and guardrail. If you can park in the campground they do have a small fee they ask you to pay. The trail is not easily seen or marked, but once you find it, the trail is easy to follow. The trail does split in 2 sections about 1 mile in and you need to take the trail to the right if you want to hit the stream and see a couple of small waterfalls. Depending on the time of year, depends on what you will see. We went in August and there was not much water runoff. We then took the trail as far as we could and were able to see a couple of small waterfalls and pools of water. They started around 1.5 miles in to 1.75 miles. The water at the time had a lot of algae in it and I’m not sure it looked too inviting to wade in or for pets.

The campground also is only open during the summer months.

This is the beginning of the trail at the end of the campground - not easy to see and not marked.

$5.00 a day recreation day use fee.

A lot of small streams to cross.

A lot of trees to climb over.

Take the trail to the right to go to the small waterfalls and stream.

Not an easy trail at times.

Cool opening in the rocks.

Off to discover more - up a small trail we go.

Small waterfall in these rocks. Also we pretty much hit the end. We saw no other trails.

Big rocks.
