Grave of William Coogan

William Coogan was traveling through the Rapid City area looking for gold when he encounter some Sioux Indians and was killed. He is buried just west of Elk Vale Road off Edwards Street just Northwest of the Comfort Inn. His final resting place is marked by a fence, plaque, and large stone which were part of an Eagle Scout project.
