Elk Mountain Trail

Elk Mountain Trail is a short and easy 1 mile hike (We tracked it at .8 of a mile). It goes above the campground and gives you views of the valley below. We went on this hike in May and saw a lot of different wild flowers. The trail has a lot of dead brown trees near it which takes away some of the beauty. This hike is pet friendly, but be sure to bring water since the beginning of the trail has little tree cover and can get hot.

This trail has 2 names - Elk Mountain Nature Trail and Elk Mountain Trail.

Lots of different wildflowers.

Beginning of the trail - up we go in the prairie.

We saw a woodpecker.

Views of the campground below and the dead and dying pine trees.

Nice open views.

Found this little fella.

Down we go again.

We are not alone.

Going into the woods and shade.

View of the campground again - different loop.

Flowers everywhere.

Trail ends at the amphitheater and then the road back to the beginning of the trail.
