Crazy Horse Memorial
Crazy Horse Memorial is a mountain monument that is still under construction in the Black Hills. It is being built to honor Crazy Horse who was a Native American war leader of the Oglala Lakota in the 19th century. Cost of entrance to the memorial is $35.00 a carload as of 2023. There are other fees for those on a motorcycle, those on a bike, and those who walk in. The fees go to support the mountain carving, The Indiana Museum of North America, and the Indian University of North America. Twice a year there is a volksmarch where you can climb to the top of the mountain to get a good view of Crazy Horse for a small fee. There are also other events throughout the year such as night blasts, laser light shows, art shows, etc. Check their website for more details. To get to Crazy Horse take Highway 385 - it is just north of the town of Custer or south of the town Hill City in Custer county.
