Cook Lake

Cook Lake is located between Sundance and Alva, Wyoming. It is a rather long drive on a dirt road which can be scary if pulling a trailer since the road is quite narrow at times. The lake itself is beautiful and offers opportunities to camp, fish, and hike. The area is quite remote and most of the people we saw were driving around in ATVs on the roadway. There is a trail that goes around most of the lake, but the northside is closed due to ongoing geological activity that produced some landslides a few years back. We were fortunate enough to camp here and spend the weekend enjoying this whole area of the Black Hills of Wyoming.

Lots of picnic areas to hang out at.

Trail that goes around part of the lake - This is the north side.

Trail ends on this side of the lake at the fence line.

Gorgeous flowers everywhere.

Peaceful place to sit.

Behind the dam.

We are not alone.

A couple of docks at the lake to fish from.

Found this little guy hiding out.

Lots of picnic areas - old campsites? - around the lake.

Reason the path around the lake, and the campsites near the lake are not used anymore?

So inviting.
