Prairie Vista Trail

The Prairie Vista Trail is a 1 mile loop that starts either at the Wind Cave Visitor’s Center or the picnic area. This trail is a moderate trail that goes above the visitor’s center and gives you a view of the prairie. There are a lot of information displays along the way telling you a little about the history of the area. I really liked this trail because it was short, and although there is a bit of a climb right after the picnic area, the rest is pretty easy. There were no buffalo allowed on the trail so you got to see a lot of the prairie plant life that is usually eaten or trampled on by the buffalo. The trail is easy to find and follow and is family friendly.

Note - When we went there we had to have a mask to enter the visitor’s center, and to start the trail from there you do have to enter the center.
