The Boneyard Trail

The Boneyard Trail is an unique trail that is marked by animal bones. The trail consists of a couple of trails that run just north of Johnson Siding and run the ridge line overlooking the town. This trial is for both hikers and mountain bikers.

Finding the trail can be tricky and it is not easily marked. To get to the beginning of the trial take Log Porch Rd (FSR 173) off of W Highway 44 between Morse Pl. and French Dr. Go on a dirt road for about 3 miles. The trail starts a couple of different places but the main trail is at a small grassy turn off from the dirt road (pictured). A 4 wheel drive vehicle is recommended most days to get to this trail.

Where to park - The trail starts just to the right of where the car is parked in the woods. It is marked by bones.

The lower parking area would be at these coordinates: N 44 05.070 W 103 25.408. Park then walk back down the road about 50 yards to find the trail. The upper trail parking is located at: N 44 05.311 W 103 25.624 From here you cross the fence and walk for about 100 feet till you find the trail. You can do a loop hike of about 2 miles should you want to walk the entire trail.  Start on one end and then you will need to walk the road back to you car. This road is closed to motorized traffic from November 15 to May 15 each year.
