Biking Barnes Canyon Trail

Barnes Canyon Trail is a newer trail in Custer State Park and it goes between Wildlife Loop Rd/Barnes Canyon Rd and Badger Clark Road. The road is 4.7 miles one way and biking it was really fun coming from Badger Clark Rd since it was mostly downhill. When we had to turn around and go back it was a lot harder and mostly uphill. If you are looking for a workout then this trail is perfect. If you are looking to have a fun ride, I recommend having 2 vehicles and bike from Badger Clark Rd to Airport Rd, and then getting a ride back to your destination.

Cross a field and up the road you go. Hardest climb starts here.

At the top and going down - mostly downhill from here.

Slight climb here.

At the top looking west.

At the top looking east - now you start to go down again.

At the top - summer challenge.

Small climb here.

Made it to the east side of the trail. That was the fun side. Now to turn around and go up, and up, and up.

Was on the trail.

Really rocky and hard section to go up.

At the top, back down we go.

Pretty rocky and hard climb to the top.

Last descent down to the car.

Pretty close to the trail.
