Ardmore

Ardmore is a ghost town with a few occupants that is one mile north of the South Dakota/Nebraska border. It was founded in 1889 and designated a ghost town in 2004. Most people left when the agriculture industry changed, and they sought out a better way of life. The town also had problems with drought and the creek was not suitable for consumption. The government tried experimenting with dry farming, and that failed as well. In its better days, Ardmore was a stopping point for the railroad. President Coolidge even visited the town once for a picnic. Today there remains lots of buildings, most which have a no trespass sign on them. Even so, there is a lot of cool photo opportunities for those who love old towns.
