Adams Museum

The Adams Museum is located at 51 Sherman Street in downtown Deadwood. The building was donated by W.E. Adams in 1930 with the intent of preserving the wonderful history of Deadwood and the Black Hills. The museum has 3 floors and is full of interesting displays. There is the mysterious Thoen Stone which came from nearby Spearfish. There is the famous gold nugget that Potato Creek Johnny found in the Black Hills. There is even a marine reptile plesiosaur in the basement. The museum is open every day Tuesday through Saturday except for holidays. The museum says it is free but requests a $5.00 donation to enter, which is pretty much expected. We found the museum to be very educational and a good way to spend an afternoon.
